Makita to cut 200 jobs over three years

BUFORD - About 200 people likely will lose their jobs the next three years at Makita Corporation of America&#39;s Buford plant. There will be no layoffs until at least February.<br> <br> Human Resources Manager Jim Pearce says the cuts will affect all employees.<br> <br> Seniority will be considered and some workers will be offered other jobs. Anyone let go will get two weeks of full pay and benefits for every year of service.<br> <br> Makita is moving its manufacturing to China and will concentrate on assembly, packaging, and distribution in Buford.<br> <br> The company informed its 500 Buford employees of the plan last week.
