Bicycle shop owner found innocent in teen's slaying

COLUMBUS - A bicycle and lawn mower repair shop owner was found innocent Thursday of charges in the death of a 15-year-old boy he shot as three youths tried to burglarize his business. <br> <br> The jury rejected District Attorney Gray Conger&#39;s plea that Jack Tant, 74, be convicted of either murder or manslaughter in the June 16, 2000, shooting of Jermaine L. Long, who died on a path between stacked bicycle parts. <br> <br> Defense lawyer Mark Shellnut said Tant ``went up to check on his business and was attacked by intruders. It&#39;s nothing more than that.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Conger said it was true that Long was out to steal bicycle parts. <br> <br> ``But that doesn&#39;t carry the death penalty,&#39;&#39; the prosecutor said.
