Hall to watch out of county dumpers

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Commissioners learned Thursday they need to sharpen their watch at the county's garbage collection sites.

Ed Garland of Murrayville told commissioners he saw Lumpkin County vehicle tags at the Murrayville collection site but saw no sign indicating it was a Hall County site.

County Administrator Jim Shuler said he would check on the sign.

Commissioner Brenda Branch said out of county dumpers are subject to fines.

Re-zoning should be different this year with the County Commission's approval of changes in procedure.

Chairman Gary Gibbs said commissioners wanted a closer look at excluding manufactured homes from the vacation cottage zone and short term rentals of vacation property.

Gibbs said both clarifications were aimed at protecting neighborhood areas.

A committee to watch over cell tower location got another member Thursday during the Hall County Commission meeting.

County Commission Vice Chairman Roger Cole said appointee Doug Akin led a citizens group against a cell tower in his neighborhood.
