Middle Georgia counties building new water treatment plant

MILLEDGEVILLE - Baldwin and Putnam counties are planning a state-of-the-art, multimillion-dollar water treatment plant to draw water from Lake Sinclair. <br> <br> Engineers gave members of the two-county Sinclair Water Authority information on the membrane-filtration system designed to clean the water during a meeting Tuesday night. <br> <br> ``This is going to be a system unique to Georgia,&#39;&#39; said Tom Sloope of Carter and Sloope Consulting and Engineering. <br> <br> The system will supply water to people in both counties who currently buy water from the cities of Eatonton and Milledgeville or use wells. <br> <br> Planning for construction, engineering and architectural drawings are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2002 with construction to begin in spring 2003 and end in spring 2004. <br> <br> The total estimated cost for construction of the plant is between $10 million and $12 million.
