MILLEDGEVILLE - Baldwin and Putnam counties are planning a state-of-the-art, multimillion-dollar water treatment plant to draw water from Lake Sinclair.
Engineers gave members of the two-county Sinclair Water Authority information on the membrane-filtration system designed to clean the water during a meeting Tuesday night.
``This is going to be a system unique to Georgia,'' said Tom Sloope of Carter and Sloope Consulting and Engineering.

The system will supply water to people in both counties who currently buy water from the cities of Eatonton and Milledgeville or use wells.
Planning for construction, engineering and architectural drawings are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2002 with construction to begin in spring 2003 and end in spring 2004.
The total estimated cost for construction of the plant is between $10 million and $12 million.
