Deal, Chamber to host Lake Lanier meeting March 1st

GAINESVILLE - Congressman Nathan Deal and the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce will co-host a town hall meeting about Lake Lanier at Gainesville College March 1st.

Chamber president Kit Dunlap told her board Thursday that two top Corps of Engineers officials - one from Washington, the other from Mobile, Alabama - are expected at the meeting.

"While we've got there undivided attention, we're going to talk about the level and uses of (the lake)," Dunlap said. "but when they see it, I think there's some believability that we might be getting something done."

A number of state officials have also been invited to attend.

Among those invited are Governor Roy Barnes, Director of Georgia's Environmental Protection Division Harold Reheis and Bob Kerr, chief negotiator for the state of Georgia in the tri-state water talks.
