Jerry D. Ayers, age 74, of Lumpkin County passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 following a brief illness.
He was loved by all, and was such a server who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He sang with the United Gospel Singers for many years, had numerous foster children in his home throughout the years, and even adopted 3 of them. Jerry retired from Lucent Technologies in 1998. His wife of 55 years passed into the hands of Jesus just 3 weeks prior to his passing. They are now together for eternity. Real love never dies.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Noel and Mary Lou Sargent Ayers; wife, Frances Ayers; brothers, Dan and Powell Ayers; and sister, Janice Ayers.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jim McKee; daughters, Connie Ayers, Katie Ayers, and Marcy Ayers; son, Thomas Ayers; grandchildren, Angela Harkins, Jennifer and Jeremy Phillips, Kristopher Paitsel, Mary Harkins, Heather and Kenny Pairmore, Lance Paitsel, and Russell Evans; great grandchildren, Cheyanna Phillips and Bryson Pairmore; sister, Peggy Anderson; sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Loney Gravitt; and brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Ann Ayers.
