Bounce Out the Stigma, a basketball camp for kids with special needs, is being held in West Hall Middle School’s gymnasium from July 23 - 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The camp is run by Mike Simmel who is based out of New Jersey and travels along the southeast during the summer for the camp.
His camps have gone to Kentucky, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
The event helps give kids with special needs a community that lets them have fun, feel safe and be heard.
Local volunteers help with the camp, including West Hall’s Coach Chuck Graham and their boys basketball team.
There are also special guests, including a coach from the Atlanta Hawks and the University of North Georgia men’s basketball coaching staff.
