LOGANVILLE, Ga. — Class 6A seventh-ranked Buford held off Class 5A third-ranked Loganville 5-2 on Thursday in a battle of ranked teams on the road.
Buford jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the second inning after RBIs from Caleb Griffin and Payton Walker in the first and runs on an error and a wild pitch in the second.
That was all Luke Hopper, Dexter McCleon Jr, and Braden Burton needed. The trio gave up seven hits but also struck seven as a group.
Walker, Griffin, and Ryan Johansen each drove in one run for Buford.
The Wolves will jump into Region 8-6A action on Friday playing host to Discovery.

A run-scoring balk was the difference as the Tigers dropped their second straight Region 6-3A game to the Dragons
The only run came in the fourth. Dawson County (13-10, 8-6 Region 6-3A) had just two base runners the first four innings but loaded the bases in the top of the fifth. However, they could not push a run across.
Jackson Nunn got the win for Pickens, scattering three hits and a walk in 4 2/3 innings.
Will Bauers took the hard-luck loss for Dawson County. Bauers went 4 1/3 innings, surrendering one run on three hits.
The two teams will close out their series on Friday in Dawsonville.
