While areas of the southeastern U.S. are dealing with forest fires and uncontrolled burns causing heavy smoke and property damage, one area county is warning its residents about steps it is taking to prevent future potential fires.
White County's Public Safety Facebook page has announced on Friday morning that if any area residents have respiratory conditions or sensitivities to smoke, please take appropriate precautions for the day as Georgia Forestrywill conduct a controlled burn in the Cleveland area. The targeted area for the burn will be along Asbestos Road, near the Highway 75 Alternate intersection.
The area's residents are being advised to expect smoke to be seen throughout the victinity of Asbestos Road, Highway 75 Alternate and surround neighborhood streets. If you notice a fire in a different area than the one mentioned, you should contact White County's 911 Communications Center.
