It's a very light schedule for Monday but three key series open that will have major impacts on their respective regions.
With two series completed, Region 6-6A is already showing its balance. Five teams sit within two games of each other for first place, with North Forsyth (11-6, 3-3 Region 6-6A) currently in fifth place. After the Class 6A seventh-ranked Raiders took 2-of-3 from North Atlanta last week, they open a huge series with West Forsyth (9-6, 4-2 Region 6-6A) on Monday on the road.
Region 8-5A could begin to see some separation at the top but Habersham Central could make a statement as the Raiders open a two-game series with Class 5A No. 3 Loganville. Habersham Central (8-7, 2-2 Region 8-5A) split with its first two region foes, Clarke Central and Winder-Barrow, but the defending state champion Red Devils (9-3, 2-0 Region 8-5A) have won five straight. Jackson County (9-5, 2-0 Region 8-5A) will look to stay one of three unbeaten teams in the region, opening a two-game series with Clarke Central (7-10, 1-3 Region 8-5A) in Athens. The Gladiators have lost four straight.
In Region 7-5A, Gainesville (4-11, 2-4 Region 7-5A) is coming off a pair of wins over Milton and will opens a three-game series with last-place Lanier (4-12, 1-8 Region 7-5A) on Monday. The Longhorns are just 1-9 in their last 10 games overall. With a sweep, the Red Elephants have a chance to climb into the upper tier of the region standings.
