The Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier held their re-opening after nearly two years since the groundbreaking.
The event was held in front of donors and community leaders Thursday.
The previous club served the children of Hall County for over 50 years, with the decision to do upgrades and enhance safety measures coming in 2023 when they broke ground on the new facility.
The new, two-story facility is 25,000-square-feet and cost roughly $8.5-million, which was down from their original goal of $10.2-million.
“With more than 20,500 kids leaving school every day with no safe place to go in the Lanier area, it is our goal to serve more kids, more often, making a greater impact. To do that, we needed a new facility,” CEO Steve Mickens said.
The building will include a dedicated space for middle school teens to work towards a clear plan for their futures.
