Baseball: Powerhouses NH-Lovett meet in Atlanta to highlight Friday action

By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter

After brutal cold and wind wiped out Thursday's schedule around the area, northeast Georgia area teams will try again on Friday, with nine games on tap.

The most interesting showdown with be in Atlanta when North Hall, ranked fourth in Class 3A, travels to Lovett in a battle of traditional powerhouses.

The Trojans (3-0) have looked strong so far in wins over Habersham Central, Westminster, and North Atlanta. The Lions (1-3) have played one of the toughest opening schedules in the state, dropping games St. Pius, ranked 8th in Class 4A, Lassiter ranked 8th in Class 5A, and to North Paulding, ranked 3rd in Class 6A, who was a Class 7A semifinalist in 2024.

Gainesville and Jackson County, former region foes, will meet up again at Ivey-Watson in a non-region in Class 5A and Dawson County and North Forsyth both will be at Lakepoint for one of the many Perfect Game showcases throughout the season.
