The GBI’s Bomb Disposal Unit safely contained an improvised explosive device that was found during a traffic stop in Stephens County late Friday night.
The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook Post deputies discovered the device while conducting a routine traffic stop near the South State Bank in Toccoa at 10 p.m. Georgia State Patrol Troopers and GBI agents were called to the scene.
The post said GBI agents were able to detonate the device just after 12 a.m. Saturday. The scene was determined safe, and a suspect was arrested. No other details have been provided, as the incident remains under investigation.
