By AccessWDUN Staff

COMMERCE, Ga. – Commerce took their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter and looked to be in control Friday night, but Athens Academy scored with under a minute left and converted the two-point conversion in a 29-28 thriller to get the win.

The Spartans jumped out to a 14-0 lead midway through the second quarter before Tysean Wiggins got the Tigers on the board from two yards out to cut the lead in half. Athens Academy scored just 35 seconds later to take a 21-7 lead into halftime.

Wiggins put the Tigers back on the scoreboard midway through the third quarter on another two-yard plunge before Jaiden Daniels hooked up with Wiggins for a 96-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 21-21 late in the third quarter.

On the next Tiger drive, Jacari Huff got to find the endzone as he broke free for a 79-yard touchdown run to give Commerce its first lead of the game at 28-21. Athens Academy took the ball and drove down, converting a 4th-and-4 to score a touchdown before the game-winning two-point conversion.

Commerce will look to get back to .500 next week when they travel to the Granite Bowl to take on Elbert County.
