Funeral services for all four victims in the fatal Apalachee High School shooting last week have been planned.
Richard "Ricky" William Aspinwall II
Aspinwall was described as being a “loving husband, devoted girl dad, cherished son and beloved coach and teacher.”
He was born on June 15, 1985 in Riverdale, Georgia.
Growing up he enjoyed playing and watching football, especially his Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns.
Aspinwall graduated from Rome High School in 2003 and went to Valdosta State University where he majored in accounting.
That is where he met the love of his life, Shayna Jacobson Aspinwall.
Aspinwall was proud to be “Coach A” to many as he loved his students and players.
Aspinwall’s pride and joy was his family. He married Shayna in 2016 and had two girls, Addison and Emery.
He was described as the ultimate girl dad and would do anything for his girls, including playing Barbies, building pirate ships, playing rocketship and braiding their hair.
In his spare time, he loved working on home projects, going to Braves games, capturing every NFL draft pick on an Excel spreadsheet, golfing and spending time with his friends.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Shayna, their beautiful daughters Addison and Emery, and faithful companion, the family dog Sadie, as well as his parents, Richard (Rita) Aspinwall and Maria Durrance (John) Rodgers. He was dedicated to the lives of his extended family, including his sister Ansleigh Aspinwall, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jake and Lisa Jacobson, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shawn and Kevin Zinke, grandparents-in-law, Liz and Ade Nielsen and Terry and Jake Jacobson, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bryan and Leigh Anne Jacobson, and nephews Kellen and Aiden; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services for Ricky will be held privately. The public was invited to share memories and Celebrate the Life of Ricky on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 6:00 pm at the Flowery Branch High School Football Stadium.
