FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Addy Cagle drove in four runs to pace Cherokee Bluff to a 12-1, five inning win over North Oconee on Wednesday at home.
Kaitlyn Benitez, Claire Carlson, and Cagle combined for five of the team's nine hits in their victory. The group also scored six runs and drove in seven.
The win for the Bears (9-5) was their fourth in the last five days.
Bluff jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first two innings and then Cagle’s three-run double in the third extended it to 7-1. The Lady Bears blew it open with a five-run fourth
Lillie Diehl earned the win scattering three hits and just one run (zero earned) in a complete game. She fanned three and walked two.
Cherokee Bluff next will travel to Oconee County on Thursday for a key Region 8-3A contest.

BUFORD 3
Wesleyan stunned Class 6A No. 1-ranked Buford at the Buford Softball Complex on Wednesday.
It was the first loss of the season for Buford (10-1). They had allowed just 13 total runs on the season coming into the non-region showdown.
Buford opened up a 3-0 lead after the fifth inning, but could not hold it. Wesleyan scored four times in the sixth to grab the lead and then held on for the come-from-behind win.
Buford scored once in the third when Janie Goldin scored on a sacrifice bunt from Brooklyn Atha. The Lady Wolves went up 2-0 in the fifth inning when Junior Kadyn Gabrels belted a lead-off solo home run, her 2nd of the season. Later in the inning, Atha knocked in Goldin again for the 3-0 advantage.
Junior Caroline Stanton (4-1) took the tough loss giving up five runs but just two earned after a big error in the sixth. She surrendered six hits and one walk while striking out 16 batters.
