Football: No. 2 Jefferson-No 2 Stephens County, BOO, EHall-NHall headline radio lineup

By Bo Wilson Sports Editor

Last week, we saw Cherokee Bluff, Gainesville, and Jefferson roll on, and Lumpkin County and Jackson County bounce back.

We also watched Jaiden Daniels return from injury and start at quarterback for Commerce. It was a welcomed return for the Tiger faithful as Commerce knocked off Luella to get its first win of the season.

We head to Week 4 with several exciting games on the slate. Class 6A No. 3 Buford travels to Class 5A No. 8 Roswell, and Class 2A No. 2 Stephens County travels to Class 3A No. 2 Jefferson, the two biggest games on the schedule.

Meanwhile, on the radio, we'll have a Top 5 battle between Class 2A No. 2 Stephens County and Class 3A No. 2 Jefferson. East Hall's high-flying offense travels to The Brickyard to battle rival North Hall, and Johnson and West Hall battle for Oakwood.

Three games will be on the Jacobs Media airwaves and streaming live on AccessWDUN.com.  To follow scores and more this week, follow our Friday Game Night X for scores, stories and highlights.

West Hall at Johnson — West Hall has proven its offense can score, putting up 85 points in the last two games -- both wins. Running back Elijah Hayes and company will pose a problem for the Johnson defense. The question will be, can the Knights find enough offense to keep up and slow down Hayes and the Spartans' offense? We'll find out on Friday in the 31st edition of the Battle of Oakwood. The game can be heard live on WDUN AM 550 (Click to listen live).

Stephens County at Jefferson — These two teams have only played seven times in their history, and the Dragons have won the last two meetings, 2016-2017. You'll have to go back to 1955 to find the Indians last week in the series. The series renewal should be a dandy, with Stephens County ranked No. 2 in Class 2A and the Dragons ranked No. 2 in Class 3A. Expect this one to be a battle between the Indians' rushing attack and the Dragon's defense. The game can be heard live on FM 102.9 WDUN (Click to listen live).

East Hall at North HallWhile the Vikings own the series record, they haven't won in 14 tries. North Hall has averaged nearly 60 points per game in the last four meetings, including a 49-14 win last season at The Brickyard. This season, the Vikings come into the series averaging 40 points per game, and their defense is much better. On the other side, the Trojans have revamped the line up after losing several key players to graduation. However, they're coming off a big loss to rival Cherokee Bluff. Will that play into their hand on Friday? Perhaps, but don't count out the Vikings, either. The game can be heard live on FM 94.5 The Lake (Click to listen live).
