Football: East Forsyth improves to 2-0 with win over Dawson County

DAWSONVILLE, Ga. – East Forsyth remained undefeated by taking down Dawson County Friday night, 38-7.

The Broncos got on the scoreboard with the first 31 points of the game, starting late in the first quarter, as Brock Szakacs found Chase Rhodes for 35 yards on the second drive of the game. After getting an interception, East Forsyth's Troy Hoover capped a 60-yard drive with a five-yard score to double the lead.

Five minutes later, Gus Martin plunged in from three yards out to take a 21-0 lead into halftime. Jony Aguilera hit a 39-yard field goal to open the third quarter. After the Tigers fumbled on the East Forsyth 30, Szakacs found DJ Haskell for a 35-yard touchdown pass to take a 31-0 lead.

The Tigers got on the board with eight minutes to play off a 28-yard pass from Preston Bannister to Chathem Burnett, but East Forsyth answered late with a 22-yard run from Haskell to cap the scoring.

Szakacs finished the night 14-for-23 for 140 yards and three scores. Rhodes led the Broncos in receiving yards with 106 on four catches. Bannister was 8-for-12 for 175 yards for the Tigers.

East Forsyth will travel to Winder-Barrow on Thursday to try to improve to 3-0, while Dawson will look to get its first win of the season next week when it hosts East Jackson.
