Fatal Crash Thursday Morning in Hall County is under Georgia State Patrol investigation

An early morning two-vehicle collision in Hall County along Highway 365 Thursday morning has left one driver dead, with a second driver and their passenger injured.

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is currently investigating details from the crash at the intersection of State Route 52 in Gainesville from 4:15 a.m., but have released preliminary details that indicate two cars were involved with a rear-end collision at a red light.

Upon arrival, GSP investigators had determined that an Acura RDX was traveling southbound on Highway 365 in the right lane. A Toyota Corolla was stopped at the red light in the right lane of Highway 365 southbound as the Acura was following too close and struck the rear end of the Toyota.

The driver of the Toyota was discovered deceased on sight. Their name is not being released until next of kin have been notified.  The unidentified driver and passenger of the Acura were transported to NEGA Gainesville with their undisclosed injuries.

GSP says The Acura driver will be charged with second degree motor vehilce homicide, following too close, and failure to obey traffic control device.
