White County Board of Commissioners Chairman Travis Turner was recently named the 2024-2025 chair of the General County Government Committee for the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia.

White County officials said ACCG President and Toombs County Chairman David Sikes made the appointment.

“Policy development and legislative advocacy are foundational aspects of our organization,” Executive Director Dave Wills said. “ACCG prioritizes being a member-driven and focused organization. The Governmental Affairs staff looks forward to working with the new leaders of our policy committees to drive discussions and help lead change on issues of significance to all Georgia counties.”

Georgia’s County Commission policy committees develop positions on issues impacting county government through a consensus-based policy development process.

The General County Government Committee works to address issues involving the structure of county government and intergovernmental relations between counties, constitutional officers, the courts, and federal, state and city governments.

"I am excited about being able to continue to collaborate with fellow commissioners and use our expertise to enhance the effectiveness of county governance across Georgia," Chairman Turner said. "Together, we can address the challenges we face and implement solutions that benefit all our communities. I greatly appreciate ACCG President Sikes' continued confidence."

Turner will lead the General County Government Policy Committee alongside Chattooga County Sole Commissioner Blake Elsberry.
