Event Details: This movie under the stars is free and open to the community! Just bring your lawn chairs and picnic baskets. Popcorn will be available for purchase. This PG-13 movie, “Under the Same Moon” released in 2007, documents the travels of a young Mexican boy who travels across the border after the death of his grandmother. Event Location: Cumming City Center, Cumming
Event Details: This event benefits the Humane Society of Forsyth County. There will be activities for pets and their humans! There will be an artisan pet market, “Best Dressed” pet award, “Best Trick” award, a dog race, an obstacle course and more. There will also be inflatables for the human kids to enjoy.

Event Name: 51st Annual Helen to the Atlantic Balloon Race
Event Date & Time:
Friday, May 31st and Saturday, June 1st, 6 p.m.
Event Location: Helen
Event Details: This is the South’s oldest balloon event and the United States’ only long-distance hot air balloon race (weather permitting). Race competitors begin on Thursday at 7 a.m. and it usually takes 2 days for them to go the 225 miles. There will be balloons in the field behind the Alpine Village Thursday – Saturday. The balloons will fly each evening for around 1 – 2 hours. The public can enjoy watching the balloons inflate and sometimes balloon owners will allow the public a tethered ride, or ask for help with inflations and more. There will be approximately 20 hot air balloons flying each evening. If you’re in the area, watch the sky! Bring a lawn chair if you plan to go to the field and watch them inflate.

ART FESTIVALS:

Event Name: Summer Art in the Park

Event Location: Hancock Park, Dahlonega
Event Details: All your favorite artists all in Downtown Historic Dahlonega. Find hand crafted jewelry, ceramics, paintings, photography, wood gifts and more from local artists. Event Location: Sautee Nacoochee Center, Sautee
Event Details: Co-Sponsored by the Dahlonega Arts Alliance and Sautee Nacoochee Center, this event hosts local artists from across North Georgia for a day of fun and art on the Sautee Nacoochee Center lawn! Enjoy browsing arts of all mediums both for display and purchase!

Event Name: 9th Annual Lake Show

Event Location: Lake Lanier Olympic Park, Clarks Bridge Rd., Gainesville
Event Details: Everyone’s favorite summer kickoff, the Lake Show! This fun event takes place on the shores of Lake Lanier. Live music will be the entertainment, while you enjoy dinner from the food trucks. Fireworks will end the evening at 10 p.m. This year’s headliners include Grammy winner, Gary Nicholson, and the legendary Jimmy Hall. Some local bands will be performing as opening acts, as well. Event Name: Duluth State Concert Series
