FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Despite rain in the forecast most of the day, Cherokee Bluff's Class 4A, Game 3 semifinal showdown with Holy Innocents' is still on for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch on Monday at Bluff Ballpark.
The two teams' split their doubleheader on Saturday, with the Bears wining the first game 14-4 in five innings, and HIES taking Game 2, 6-3, to even the series and send it to a deciding Game 3.
Cherokee Bluff (31-5) is the Region 8-4A champion and is looking for its first-ever trip to the championship series. Holy Innocents’ is the No. 2 seed from Region 6-4A and caught fire in the playoffs after a mediocre regular season, going now 7-2 so far in the postseason.
Holy Innocents' is no stranger to road series against a region champion, having also knocked off Region 5-4A champ Lovett in the 2nd round in a two-game sweep on the road.
