National Prescription Drug Takeback event gathers 575 pounds of medication in Gwinnett County

Gwinnett County Police Department's Community Affairs team collected over 575 pounds of medication for disposal last Saturday.

The department's social media posts display that they are grateful for the residents who participated in the DEA Prescription Drug Takeback event, which promotes public safety, protects the environment, and safeguards the well-being of Gwinnett's youth.

The Gwinnett Police headquarters, its six precincts and officials with CoolRay Field were open to the public for the dropoff event and brought in hundreds of residents.

Gwinnett authorities worked with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency to create and promote the collection event for local and nationwide awarenetss to the potentials of home drug abuse and injury from unattended prescriptions.
