DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — Habersham Central scored seven runs in three innings to beat South Paulding 7-2 and advance to the second round of the Class 6A playoffs on the road Friday.
The game was tied, 0-0, heading into the fifth inning when the Raiders scored three runs to take a 3-0 lead. Konner Burrell (3-for-5, 3 RBIs) started the scoring with an RBI single, Kaleb Chastain (2-for-2, 1 RBI) brought a run home when he was hit by a pitch, and Callum Spivey's walk added the third run.
The Raiders added two runs in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Burrell earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking two.
Kreed Barrett was 3-for-4, and Maverick Chitwood was 2-for-3.
The Raiders will travel to Region 6-6A No. 1 seed Etowah on Wednesday—game time is to be announced.
