A bicyclist from Cumming was killed in a wreck Saturday afternoon in Forsyth County, and the driver who hit the man was arrested on a DUI charge.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said Monday morning in a press release that the incident happened at about 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of Castleberry Road and Kings Common Way.

The victim in that incident was identified as Victor Godyn, 71, of Cumming.

An initial investigation by the sheriff's office reportedly determined a Chevrolet C1500 pickup truck driven by Matthew Holbrook, 48, of Cumming, was driving northbound on Castleberry Road in the inside lane.

Godyn was riding a bicycle and had entered the intersection from Kings Common Way driving westbound.

"Godyn had almost made it past the inside lane when he was struck by the pickup truck," the press release reads.

Godyn was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies reportedly determined Holbrook was driving under the influence of drugs at the time of the wreck. He was arrested for DUI drug and vehicular homicide.

The case remains under investigation.
