With most of northeast Georgia on Spring Break beginning Monday, it's a limited schedule on the diamond. However, Regions 8-6A and 8-4A each will have some huge series as the races for the playoffs are steaming toward the finish.
In Region 8-4A North, Cherokee Bluff, ranked second in Class 4A, and seventh-ranked North Hall will open a three-game series at Lynn Cottrell Field. The Bears (16-4, 4-2 Region 8-4A North) are coming off a series loss to East Forsyth while North Hall (10-10, 5-1 Region 8-4A North) swept Chestatee last week to take over first place in the subregion. The series winner in this one will leave with first place in hand.
Meanwhile, East Forsyth (14-6, 5-4 Region 8-4A North) travels to East Hall (2-17, 0-6 Region 8-4A North) trying to stay in third place in the subregion in the Broncos final subregion series of the season.
In Region 8-6A, three teams are still within one game of first place. North Forsyth (14-7, 8-2 Region 8-6A) and Apalachee (12-10, 8-2 Region 8-6A) are tied for first place with Habersham Central (15-4, 7-3 Region 8-6A) right behind. All three are in action on Monday.
Habersham Central travels to Apalachee while North Forsyth plays host to Lanier (8-13, 4-6 Region 8-6A), who is locked in a battle for fourth place with Gainesville (8-11, 5-7 Region 8-6A). The Red Elephants are off until Friday.
And the top two tesms in Region 7-3A will open a huge three-game series on Monday when Pickens No. 2-ranked Pickens (18-3, 11-1 Region 7-3A) travel to Dawson County (14-6, 8-4 Region 7-3A). The Tigers can take over first place with a sweep of the Dragons this week.
