By Austin Eller News Director

Two teenagers were arrested Thursday after they were reportedly found in possession of firearms and marijuana in a vehicle outside Lanier College Career Academy in Hall County.

Hall County School District Director of Community Relations Stan Lewis said the incident happened at about 10 a.m.

School officials and a school resource officer walked out to the parking lot on the campus to search the vehicle of a 16-year-old male student who was suspected of being under the influence of an illegal substance. Officials found a 15-year-old male passenger, who was not a Hall County Schools student, inside the car.

Authorities then performed a search of the vehicle, finding two firearms and a bag of marijuana.

The 16-year-old suspect was charged with felony possession of a firearm on school property and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. The 15-year-old suspect who was found in the car was charged with felony possession of a firearm on school property.

Both suspects were released into the custody of juvenile authorities.

"These actions are not taken lightly by the Hall County School District," Lewis said. "They violate our student code of conduct and the district will act accordingly with disciplinary measures."
