The death of two people found Wednesday in a home near Lawrenceville is being investigated as a murder-suicide.
Michelle Pihera with the Gwinett County Police Department said officers were called at around 11:30 a.m. to a home on Sterling Drive near Lawrenceville for a welfare check. A family member who does not reside at the home called 911 because the individuals in the home were not answering their phones.
Pihera said when officers arrived at the scene they could see at least one person on the ground in the home. They entered the home and immediately called an ambulance.
Officials said officers cleared the home and the fire department confirmed the two people were deceased.
The incident is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide and detectives believe it was a domestic-related incident. Pihera said a young boy was also in the home at the time he was uninjured.
"The two deceased individuals are a man and a woman, but it is still unclear who is the homicide victim and who is the suicide victim," Pihera said.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death.
