Two people were injured in a pair of related crashes on Ga. 365 in Habersham County Monday afternoon.
Georgia State Patrol officials said the incident started with a single-vehicle crash that left one southbound lane of 365 blocked near Duncan Bridge Road. That lane blockage caused another southbound vehicle to slow down when it approached the scene, with that second vehicle then being rear-ended by a third vehicle.
"The driver stated the rear tire blew on the vehicle which made her leave the roadway," Tuesday's statement from the Georgia State Patrol said. "The vehicle struck a concrete curb and came to a final rest back on the roadway. The driver failed to move the vehicle and left it parked in the travel lane which contributed to the second crash."
Habersham County officials said two people were taken from the scene to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment, with the accident leaving 365 Southbound at least partially shut down for around an hour and a half. The roadway was fully re-opened just after 6:40 p.m.
The names of those involved in the crashes have not been released. The driver in the first single-vehicle crash was cited for improper stopping in the roadway.
