This year’s annual Hall County Arbor Day Celebration will take place at Elachee Nature Science Center on Friday, February 16 at 10 a.m.
The event is open to the public and is coordinated by the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Hall County Master Gardeners, Keep Hall Beautiful, and Georgia Power. Festivities include student contest recognition and a joint City of Gainesville/Hall County proclamation with Tree City USA recognition.
Student essay and art winners will be recognized by The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee and the Georgia Forestry Service. The following are the student award recipients:
3rd Grade Art Award Recipients
- 1st Place Winner: Melany Nova, Enota Multiple Intelligence Academy
- Runner Up: Brandon Rodriguez, Riverbend Elementary
- Runner Up: Sofia Mejia, Myers Elementary
5th Grade Essay Award Recipients
- 1st Place Essay: Sahara Alvarez, Centennial Arts Academy
- Runner Up: Mariza Ortega, McEver Arts Academy
- Runner Up: Jace Gooch, McEver Arts Academy
The “What A Tree Means to Me” Visionary Award recognizes a student for outstanding art showcasing the connections and impact trees have on our health and our community. The winner of the 2024 Visionary Award is Alayna Waldrep, a third-grader at Riverbend Elementary.
