The CEO of Gainesville-based land surveying and civil engineering firm Rochester & Associates has been named to the governing board of a regional water planning district.

Governor Brian Kemp recently announced Darrell Rochester was appointed to the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Governing Board.

Rochester graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

"He has worked with both private and public partners throughout his career and brings a strong understanding of civil engineering principles relevant to the Metro Water District’s program and policy development," a release from the Governor's Office said.

The Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District website said the district collaborates with 96 cities and 15 counties to conserve and protect the region's water resources. Participating counties include Hall, Forsyth and Gwinnett counties, as well as the bulk of the Metro Atlanta area.

The district was established by the Georgia legislature in 2001 and is staffed by the Atlanta Regional Commission.
