An unidentified man was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon in a parking lot on Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth.

Officers with the Gwinnett County Police Department were dispatched at approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday after a “person shot” call came in. The incident reportedly occurred in the parking lot of 2131 Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth, according to spokeswoman Sgt. Michele Pihera. That area is also known as the Mall Corners Shopping Center.

The 9-1-1 call was made by a witness who was also in the parking lot at the time of the shooting. They reported that a driver of a blue Chevrolet pickup truck “appeared deceased.”

Responding officers were given a suspect vehicle description. Officers then located that vehicle and the driver was detained near Dunwoody Club Drive in unincorporated Atlanta as a person of interest, according to Pihera.

The motivation for the shooting is still under investigation, and the victim’s name is yet to be released as officers alert the next of kin.
