Football: Cherokee Bluff loses heartbreaker to Madison County in overtime

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Cherokee Bluff forced overtime with an interception in the endzone at the end of regulation, but in overtime, the Bears had a bad snap on a point after attempt in a 27-26 loss to Madison County.

The Bears got three rushing touchdowns from Connor Hulsey in regulation with lengths of 39, 7 and 85 yards, the latter of which was in the fourth quarter to tie the game up with 3:23 left in regulation.

The difference in the game was in special teams as the Red Raiders blocked a PAT in the second quarter to keep a 14-13 lead. They missed a PAT as well, but came up big, stopping the PAT attempt for the Bears in the first overtime after Asher Wilson rushed in from seven yards.

Hulsey had 19 carries for 201 yards to lead the way for the Bears.

Cherokee Bluff will travel to Chestatee next week for another 8-4A matchup.
