Football: Flowery Branch defeats St. Pius for third straight time

ATLANTA – Flowery Branch went on the road and took down St. Pius X for a third consecutive time, winning Friday night, 31-13.

The Falcons were first to score as Camo Campbell caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Josh Oliver to take an early 7-0 lead. St. Pius answered early in the second quarter as Patrick Muir rumbled in from a yard out to tie the game up at 7-7.

Flowery Branch would start to pull away later in the period as Oliver snuck in from a yard out with six minutes to go until halftime to retake the lead. Malik Dryden doubled the Falcon lead with 30 seconds to play until halftime with a 9-yard run, making the score 21-7.

The Falcons kept in going in the third as Jeremiah Ware caught a pass from Oliver for a 10-yard touchdown to take a 28-7 lead. A Flowery Branch field goal to finish off the third quarter was the last time they found the scoreboard as they coasted to the win over St. Pius.

Dryden finished with 137 yards rushing on 20 carries, while Oliver threw for 158 yards and a pair of scored on 10-of-15 passing.

The Falcons will take on Stephens County next week at home.
