An Oakwood man was killed after he crashed his car near Blue Ridge Overlook and Carlisle Road Wednesday evening, according to Forsyth County officials.
The crash happened around 5:40 pm when 29-year-old William Wiggins, of Oakwood, was travelling south on Carlisle Road near the intersection at Blue Ridge Overlook, Spokesperson Stacie Miller with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said.
Wiggins allegedly failed to yield to traffic on Blue Ridge Overlook and turned out in front of a pick-up truck. The driver attempted to avoid the collision; however, the driver of the truck was unable to miss Wiggins and struck his vehicle, she said.
Wiggins was rushed to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Neither impairment nor speed was expected to be a factor in the accident.
The case is under investigation by Forsyth County’s Traffic Specialist Unit.
