Georgia's average gas price rose by two cents over the past week according to the latest numbers from AAA.
The average price for a gallon of regular in the state is now $3.39. While the jump was much less than the previous week's 15-cent hike, AAA Spokeswoman Montrae Waiters said it's unlikely the prices will go back down for some time.
“Oil prices have crept higher, helping to drive prices at the pump uphill,” Waiters said. “As long as oil costs remain at the current level, Georgians will likely see incremental price increases for now.”
Northeast Georgia continues to see prices mostly lower than the state average. The average price per gallon in Hall County as of Monday morning was $3.32 while neighboring Forsyth and Gwinnett counties were both averaging $3.31. The cheapest average prices in the region are in Stephens County at $3.29 while the most expensive are in White County at $3.43.
Georgia's prices overall are still lower than the national average, which rose by six cents over the week to $3.67. The cheapest average prices by county in the state are in Sumter County in Southwest Georgia at $3.28 while the most expensive are in Clay County at $3.68.
