By Austin Eller News Director

A Gainesville home was declared a total loss and two people suffered minor injuries after a house fire Saturday evening.

According to a press release from Hall County Fire Rescue, crews responded at about 8:50 p.m. to the home on the 3300 block of Forest Lane in Gainesville. Witnesses described large flames coming from one home and in the surrounding woods.

Arriving crews found the two-story home on a crawl space fully engulfed, along with two engulfed vehicles. Personnel fought the flames defensively and remained outside of the home.

The fire in the surrounding woods spread quickly due to high winds but was quickly extinguished. Crews were able to put out the house fire quickly so it did not spread to nearby homes.

The home was declared a total loss, as were the two vehicles.

Both residents suffered minor injuries and were not transported to the hospital.

The American Red Cross was notified to help the two residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal's Office.
