Baseball scoreboard: Lumpkin, NHall, LCA, Banks, Dawson all win; Union, West Hall lose

DAHLONEGA, Ga. — Lumpkin County's Peyton Wood and Dakota Bennett singled in runs in the first inning to jumpstart the 13-0 blowout win over Gilmer on Tuesday at home. 

The Indians (13-2, 6-1) blew it open from there, scoring nine runs over the next three innings to run-rule the Bobcats. 

Alejandro Narvaez got the win for the Indians, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out seven. 

Harper Davenport led the Indians at the plate, going 3-for-4 and driving in two runs. Aidan Rogers, Bennett, Tyler Boggs, Wood and Hayden Gilbert recorded multiple hits. 

The win keeps the Indians atop the region standings, tied with Dawson County and Pickens. 


DAWSON COUNTY 17, 
WESLEYAN 16

Dawson County (10-5, 6-1) held off a furious Wesleyan charge to get the Region 7-3A win in a three-hour slugfest in Dawsonville on Tuesday.

The Tigers led 8-4 after three innings before the fireworks began. The two region foes combined for 21 runs over the next four innings. Wesleyan scored 12 runs, seven in the fourth, four in the sixth and one in the seventh. However, the Tigers added nine runs in the fourth inning and held on to pick up the win. 

With the win, the Tigers remain in a three-way tie for the top spot in the region with Lumpkin County and Pickens. 

Julian Horner highlighted the day offensively for the Tigers with a grand slam in the second inning to give the Tigers a 5-2 lead. Horner had five RBIs on the day. 

Jacson Rickett was 3-for-5 with three RBIs to lead the Tigers. Sawyer Bearden was 2-for-4 with one RBI, Colton Rucker was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Davis Glass recorded two hits and two RBIs. 


NORTH HALL 3,
WHITE COUNTY 2

On Tuesday, the Trojans took the lead in the top of the first inning and never relinquished it in the win over arch-rival White County in Cleveland. 

Charlie Wright's sacrifice fly in the first inning gave North Hall the lead, 1-0, and Mills Lothridge's ground out pushed Ajay Jones home, who singled earlier in the inning, for the 2-0 advantage. 

White County, however, answered with one run in the bottom of the first inning when Alex Freeman grounded into a fielder's choice, scoring Kyler Mayo. 

The Trojans added one more run in the sixth inning. The Warriors tried to mount a comeback in the final inning but fell short in the loss. 

Andrew Hlavacek, Nathan Vermeer, Jones, Jon Jon Read and Wright all had one hit each for the Tr0jans. 

Freeman was 2-for-3 to lead the Warriors at the plate. 


LANIER CHRISTIAN 2,
VICTORY BAPTIST 1

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Lightning battled back to knock off Victory Baptist on Tuesday at home. 

The Lightning (5-3) tied the game in the bottom of the third and grabbed the lead n the fourth inning en route to the win. 
 
Gavin Strabala pitched five innings, giving up only three hits while striking out 10. Isaac Dinn picked up the save, striking out 5 in 2 innings.
 
Carter Raulerson, Isaac Dinn, Joshua Waymack, and Tres Criste led the Lightning at the plate.  

Criste doubled in the winning run on a 2-2 count and also threw out a runner at second from centerfield in the seventh inning to help preserve the victory.  

Raulerson and Liam Howell scored LCA’s runs.


PICKENS 12, 
WEST HALL 2

Pickens scored six runs in the second inning en route to a 12-2 win over the Spartans at home on Tuesday. 

Brett Sturm, Ozzie Lopez and Brandon Roberts had one hit each for the Spartans. 


BANKS COUNTY 4,
ATHENS ACADEMY 3

On Tuesday, the Leopards picked up a much-needed win over Region 8-2A leader Athens Academy at home. 

The win broke a two-game losing streak, bringing their region record to .500. 

The two region foes traded runs in the first and third innings, but the Spartans jumped ahead in the fourth inning 3-2. 

The Leopards answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and took the lead when Carson Hill scored on a passed ball to go up for good 4-3. 


PROVIDENCE CHRISTIAN 6,
UNION COUNTY 0

Providence Christian slowly built its lead and held Union County scoreless en route to the Region 8-2A win. 

The Storm scored one run in the first, two in the third and three in the seventh inning. 

Maddox Patton was 2-for-3 to lead the Panthers at the plate.
