CLEVELAND, Ga. — Despite getting a pair of solid showings on the mound from Mark Daniels and Joseph Bowles, White County could not stave off a sweep from No. 2-ranked Pickens, dropping the final game of their Region 7-3A series, 1-0, on Friday at home.
Daniels and Bowles combined on a four-hitter with Daniels striking out 6 in six innings and Bowles one in his inning of work.
But the Dragons’ AJ Rice and JP Nunn combined on a one-hitter while fanning 11 White County batters for the game. Rice fanned seven over five innings to get the win while Nunn recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Pickens.
The game’s only run came in the fourth on a RBI fielder’s choice.
Devin Norton had the Warriors (5-9, 1-5 Region 7-3A) only hit, a single in the third. White County had a runner thrown out at the plate to end the third.
The Warriors stranded the other four runners, two in scoring position.
