A suspect was arrested in Kansas recently in connection with a sexual assault case in Hall County involving a Gainesville girl.
According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Felix Barragan, 45, was charged with multiple felony charges in connection to the alleged assaults on a girl who was under the age of 10 at the time of the crimes. Barragan and the victim reportedly knew each other prior to the crimes.
The crimes allegedly happened between Feb. 1, 2020, and Jan. 15, 2023, at a home on Poplar Springs Road. The girl told a relative in February about the assaults, and the relative made a report to the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators learned from family members that Barragan had fled to Kansas. He was taken into custody in Shawnee Mission, Kansas with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Johnson County, Kansas Sheriff's Office. Barragan was returned to Hall County and booked into the jail on Tuesday.
Barragan faces the following felony charges:
- Three counts of rape
- Four counts of sodomy/aggravated sodomy
- Four counts of aggravated child molestation
- 12 counts of sexual battery with a child under 16
- Two counts of electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor
Barragan remained in the Hall County Jail with no bond as of Wednesday afternoon.
