After just three seasons at the helm of the Lakeview boys basketball program, Tyler Sanders is out as head coach.
Sanders confirmed the news via text on Thursday.
“I was informed at noon today that I would no longer be the basketball coach at Lakeview Academy," Sanders said. "I love these players and wish them nothing but the best. I will be there to support them however I can, no matter where I’m at”
In their first season in the Georgia Independent Athletic Association, the Lions, playing the toughest schedule in GIAA, finished 16-14 and were a No. 9 seed in the GIAA state tournament.
Last week, Lakeview Academy fell in the Class 3A quarterfinals to St. Andrews, 54-37.
In Sanders's first season, 2020-21, the Lions finished the regular season 17-9 and made a trip to the Class A Private playoffs. During the 2021-22 season, the final in the Georgia High School Association's Class A Private, the Lions finished 9-17 and failed to make the playoffs.
