Region 8-4A opened its schedule on Wednesday with a thunderclap, not just a bang, and will get back to it on Friday with five more big games around the area.
Region 8-6A also will open its playoff quest with a limited schedule on Friday before jumping headlong into the fire on Monday.
However, rain scheduled for most of the say Friday has forced several games to either change locations or reschedule for a later date. A key 8-4A game set for today has been moved to Saturday. Chestatee will head to No. 1 North Oconee at 6 p.m.
Class 4A No. 3 Cherokee Bluff, fresh off its take down of No. 1 North Oconee on Wednesday, will try not to have a letdown as it travels to Cedar Shoals in 8-4A action. No. 2 North Hall, which was stung by No. 9 Walnut Grove on Wednesday in its region opener, will look to get back on track against Madison County at Cottrell Field. The game was moved from Danielsville because the Red Raiders field is unplayable with all the recent rain..
East Forsyth hopes to avoid an 0-2 start with a tough assignment traveling to Walnut Grove. East Hall will try for a 2-0 start heading to Seckinger, which knocked off East Forsyth on Wednesday.
The only games involving area teams in 8-6A will have Habersham Central playing host to Apalachee and North Forsyth traveling to Lanier to open their region schedules. Jackson County and Shiloh got things started on Thursday with the Panthers beating the Generals 6-3 in Hoschton.
Buford's brutal non-region schedule also continues as the Wolves will take part in the Perfect Game Tournament in Hoover, Ala. over the weekend.
West Hall got its first win of the season on Wednesday and will look for two straight against Class 7A Collins Hill at Spartans Field. The game has been moved to Saturday at 5 p.m. due to rain in the forecast.
