A Gainesville girl was airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and four others were transported to a local hospital after a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon in Hall County.

According to a crash report provided by the Georgia State Patrol, the incident happened just before 4 p.m. on Mount Vernon Road at its intersection with Buckhorn Road.

The child, who is seven-years-old, was airlifted from the scene after suffering suspected serious injuries while her mother, Olivia Shockley, 35, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with suspected minor injuries.

Shockley was reportedly driving a Chevrolet Traverse with her child in the back seat north on Mount Vernon Road and attempting to turn left onto Buckhorn Road. The second vehicle, a Toyota Highlander driven by Lesley Ham, 35, was traveling south on Mount Vernon Road.

Shockley reportedly failed to yield while making the left turn, traveling into the path of Ham. The Toyota struck the right side of the Chevrolet, causing the Chevrolet to overturn onto its left side.

The accident report from the Georgia State Patrol said Shockley told police she had looked down for a moment, but when she looked back at the road, she said she could not avoid the collision.

The Toyota had three additional passengers: a 12-year-old boy, a 9-year-old girl and an infant. The girl and infant were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with possible injuries, along with Ham.
