The work force in Gainesville and statewide is finishing with strong results for 2023.
A release from state Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson shows the unemployment rate for Gainesville in November dropped to 2.2 percent. That is down five-tenths of a percent from one month earlier.
The Georgia Department of Labor statistics also shows the Northeast Georgia unemployment rate in November was down four-tenths of a percent to 2.9 percent. The labor force was up 1,191 for November and up 9,931 for 2023, to 333,077, an all-time high.
Thompson's office reports that all regions across Georgia are showing similar unemployment rate drops for November.
Thompson contributes the holiday retail shopping season and a soaring job market as contributing factors behind the improvements.
