Three-vehicle wreck on U.S. 441 in Habersham County sends two people to hospital

A three-vehicle wreck Thursday afternoon on U.S. 441 in Habersham County sent two people to the hospital, one of them being for serious injuries.

Officials with the Georgia State Patrol responded at about 1:26 p.m. to the accident along U.S. 441 at the intersection with Talmadge Drive, the GSP said.

The driver of a 2007 Chevrolet C150 was traveling north on U.S. 441 and reportedly failed to stop at the red light. It then struck a 2022 Toyota Rav 4 as it was crossing U.S. 441. The C150 then hit a 2007 GMC C4C as it was crossing the intersection as well, according to authorities.
 
The driver of the Chevrolet, Charles Stockton, 80, was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Toyota, Vera Mercer, 83, was taken to Habersham Medical with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The driver of the GMC, Bobby White, 82, did not complain of any injuries at the scene, according to reports.
 
Units with the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the incident, which closed down parts of U.S. 441 for nearly two hours.
