Authorities in Forsyth County have arrested a man after reportedly finding stolen packages in his vehicle.
A report from the Forsyth County Sheriff's office said Tanaka Mangadze, age 20 of Cumming, was arrested during a traffic stop on Thursday, December 7 on Old Atlanta Road at James Burgess Road near Suwanee.
Deputies were called to a report of a package stolen from a home in the Preston Oak subdivision. The thief was described as a black male driving a white Nissan Sentra with a missing hubcap on a front wheel. There had allegedly been multiple reports of package thefts in the area by a suspect with the same description.
A deputy spoke with the driver of a nearby Amazon delivery vehicle who said they saw a white Nissan matching that description in the area. Shortly after, the deputy found the vehicle on Old Atlanta Road and conducted a traffic stop.
The deputy allegedly smelled an odor of marijuana in the vehicle and requested assistance. The vehicle was searched, and multiple opened Amazon packages were found in the seats with several shoe boxes in the car's trunk. One of the shoe boxes was a match for one that was reported stolen.
Mangadze was arrested at the scene and booked into the Forsyth County Jail. He remained there as of Tuesday afternoon on more than $14,000 bond on a list of charges including theft by taking and possession of marijuana.
