PEMBROKE, Ga. – A Bryan County touchdown with 22 seconds to play was the difference as Commerce fell Friday night, 24-16.
After a scoreless first quarter, Bryan County scored on the first play of the second quarter and a two-point conversion was successful to give the Redskins an early 8-0 lead. The Tigers answered late in the half as Jacari Huff punched it in from two yards out before Jaiden Daniels got the two-point play to tie the game at 8-8 at halftime.
Neither team scored in the third quarter, but the Redskins scored on a fourth down play to start the final period and converted another two-point conversion to take a 16-8 lead. Commerce responded again on the ensuing drive on a Tysean Wiggins dive. Daniels again converted on the two-point play to tie the game. Bryan County scored on a 3-yard run in the final minute to punch their ticket to the quarterfinals.
Daniels finished the night with 146 yards on 21 touches, while Wiggins had 43 yards on 13 carries.
