Football playoffs: Buford rolls past Wheeler

By AccessWDUN Staff

BUFORD, Ga. – Buford took control early and scored often as they knocked off Wheeler, 50-0, Friday night to open up the Class 7A playoffs.

Since their loss to Mill Creek, the Wolves have outscored their opponents 234-0 and over the course of the entire season have only given up a field goal on their home field at Tom Riden Stadium.

The Wolves got going early as Dylan Raiola hooked up with KJ Bolden for two scores in the first quarter, one on a 26-yard throw on the opening drive before a 52-yard bomb late in the period to take a 14-0 lead.

On the first play of the second quarter, Raiola showed off his wheels, scampering in from 17 yards out before throwing passes to Haden Bradley, Bolden and Mantrez Walker to give Buford a 43-0 lead at halftime.

The only score of the second half came on a pick-six by Jax Pope midway through the third quarter.

Raiola was 12-for-15 passing for 219 yards through the air.

The Wolves will now travel to Norcross for the second round after the Blue Devils knocked off Denmark Friday night, 34-10.
