CLEVELAND, Ga. — White County's rally fell short in a 39-37 loss to Pickens at Warrior Stadium on Friday.
The Warriors scored with 3:56 left in the game on a Tripp Nix six-yard run, but the two-point try to tie the game failed, eventually falling to the Dragons.
White County (4-5, 2-3 Region 7-3A) had an extra point blocked in the first quarter, one missed in the second quarter to tie the game, and three failed two-point attempts.
One of which came after Ryan Fowler walked into the end zone on a one-yard run to give the Warriors a 13-6 lead, but the extra point was blocked, and two minutes later, Miguel Salto darted 66 yards for the Pickens score to tie the game, 13-13.
The Dragons (3-6, 2-3 Region 7-3A) scored early in the second quarter to take the lead for good on a seven-yard pass from Sam Streicher to Mccord Purdy. Streicher connected with Purdy twice, once in the second quarter and once in the second half.
The Warriors cut the lead to two points three times in the second half, 27-25, 33-31, and the final score 39-37.
Nix finished with four touchdowns, and Fowler had two.
With the loss, White is tied for fourth with Pickens in the region standings with one game left.
